America Daisy Jane lyrics:
Flyin' me back to Memphis
Gotta find my Daisy Jane
Well, the summer's gone
And I hope she's feelin' the same

Well, I left her just to roam the city
Thinkin' it would ease the pain
I'm a crazy man
And I'm playin' my crazy game, game

Does she really love me
I think she does
Like the stars above me
I know because
When the sky is bright
Everything's alright

Flyin' me back to Memphis
Honey, keep the oven warm
All the clouds are clearin'
And I think we're over the storm

Well, I've been pickin' it up around me
Daisy, I think I'm sane
And I'm awful glad
And I guess you're really to blame, blame

Do you really love me
I hope you do
Like the stars above me
How I love you
When it's cold at night
Everything's alright

Does she really love me
I think she does
Like the stars above me
I know because
When the sky is bright
Everything's alright

Song info:
"Sister Golden Hair" was followed up by another Beckley tune from Hearts, the bittersweet ballad "Daisy Jane." Says Gerry: "I wrote that in my cottage in England. I was a big fan of Nick Drake, and on one of his albums there's a song called 'Hazy Jane [II].' I just kind of copped that and came up with the name 'Daisy Jane,' sort of like 'daisy chain.' There's not a thing about my song that's like Nick's song, but that's where these bits come from. If you listen to 'Daisy Jane,' it's basically one song played twice--there's the song, there's a little viola break, and there's the song again with a slight lyric change. I blocked out the eight-bar break for George to put something in, and he wrote a nice little piece in there." Unfortunately, "Daisy Jane" stalled at #20 on the Pop chart.
