Music is Blush (Only You) by Plumb SPOILER INFO (ONLY IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN THE MOVIE OR READ THE BOOK): Having never read the book by Thomas Hardy, I was stunned by the ending of the movie and quite upset! It took me a while to come to terms with the fact that Thomas Hardy was making a very relevant point about the unfairness of the standards women were held to in his time. Even in modern times, that standard still seems unequal. To me, Hardy was basically saying Tess paid for the crimes of ignorance and cruelty of two men that claimed to love her. So, this video has a happy ending where Tess tells Angel "I have left him," instead of "I have killed him," and the two go on to live a life of happiness together. In some ways, I don't think Angel deserved Tess' love, but the fact remains that he did come back for her after realizing his rigid views on female sexuality had destroyed his ability to love Tess and be loved by her in return. And still, even after he learned she had been living as Alec's mistress, he loved her fully without question.
